The Castles
Bus transfer and visit of Casteltrosino: this castle lies on the top of a travertine cliff, which is the result of the detachment of a huge rock from the Hill of San Marco, occurred a long time ago. Access to the village is possible only from one side, the others being sheer rocks overlooking the valley of the River Castellano. The medieval castle, solitarily clinging to the cliff, dominates a wide territory. It was built to serve as a lookout and, due to its strategic position, it was easily defensible.Nowadays, after a renovation carried out using only local materials, it looks perfectly untouched. The oldest part of the hamlet is made up of the houses located within the solid walls, which are accessible through a round-arched entrance on which the wooden gate is hung.
Lunch at a typical restaurant in the heart of the hamlet.

The latter has an elliptical shape and is considered one of the most remarkable examples of military engineering in Europe. It represented the last bastion of the Bourbons of Naples and of the Reign of the Two Sicilies, which staunchly held out against the Piedmont troops before the final surrender, occurred only after the Italian Unification.Lunch at a typical restaurant
In the afternoon, visit of the Fortress of Arquata del Tronto: this mighty medieval structure was built as a stronghold for the control and the strategic defense of the territory. It lies on a cliff on the northern side of Arquata’s urban area, in the Province of Ascoli Piceno. The Fortress of Arquata del Tronto is a typical example of 13th-century military architecture of the Umbria-Marche Apennines: a compact, austere and isolated structure surrounded by a green park cut through by several paths or visit of the Fortress of Acquaviva Picena: considered one of the major fortresses in the Region, it is the most representative monument and the main attraction of the village of Acquaviva Picena.
