Roman Theatre
The Roman Theatre of Ascoli Piceno is located in the western side of the city center. The structure leans against a hill called Colle dell’Annunziata (formerly known as Pelasgic Hill) and was discovered during a series of excavations carried out in 1932, 1951 and 1959. Its construction is believed to have begun in the I century BC, while renovations and adjustments date from the I and II centuries.
